Board of Trustees
The
Board of Trustees is one of the highest governing bodies of the university,
playing a fundamental role in strategic direction, effective oversight, and
ensuring transparency and accountability. As a supervisory and approving
authority, the Board is responsible for making strategic decisions and
conducting comprehensive reviews to facilitate the growth, development, and
sustainability of the institution.
The
Board focuses on defining overarching strategies and reviews and approves the
university’s strategic, financial, operational, and work plans, while also
overseeing their effective implementation. It further evaluates and approves
internal regulations, administrative documents, organizational structure, and
institutional frameworks to ensure sound administrative order.
In
the financial domain, the Board plays a central role in reviewing, approving,
and monitoring the annual budget, as well as determining the mechanisms for
revenue generation and expenditure. It is also responsible for approving
financial and contractual documents, setting remuneration for teaching,
research, and authorship, and proposing and approving additional benefits and
incentives for academic and administrative staff.
In
the area of human resources, the Board approves policies related to the
recruitment of academic and administrative staff and confirms the appointment
of the University President and Vice Presidents. In addition, through academic,
administrative, and strategic assessments, the Board actively contributes to
improving institutional performance and high-level decision-making.
The
Board of Trustees also oversees the implementation of approved strategies and
programs and regularly evaluates the performance of various university units.
Furthermore, it is responsible for ensuring the availability of financial
resources and attracting external funding to support the academic and physical
development of the university.
Overall,
by fulfilling its assigned responsibilities in accordance with applicable laws,
the Board of Trustees plays a vital and decisive role in ensuring quality,
enhancing transparency, and achieving the university’s strategic objectives.
The
Board of Trustees holds its meetings in a structured and purposeful manner.
During each academic year, it convenes two regular meetings at the end of each
semester, where key issues related to policies, plans, budgets, performance,
and other major matters are reviewed and decided upon. In addition,
extraordinary meetings may be held when necessary or in urgent situations.
These can be convened at the request of the University President, the Chair of
the Board, or at least one-third of the Board members. This structured and
flexible meeting system ensures timely decision-making, effective oversight,
and efficient institutional management.
